DDL Smith Announces New Novel, Decay

London-based novelist DDL Smith, known for the Detective Dion series, announces the release of his anticipated novel, "Decay." Arriving October 10th, 2025, Decay is the first novel to be available in large book-chains directly from release.

Set in the Swedish midlands, "Decay" follows the story of a broken family attempting to reconnect with one final camping trip. When all three start showing signs of serious illness, a nuclear relic from the cold war reveals to be the source. This eco-horror aims to recognise public concern of what can happen when nuclear goes wrong, allowing interest and real-world conversations to take place.

“Decay is a story that is drenched in heavy research, as well as showing peoples fear of what we don’t understand.” Smith said, “Even though nuclear power one of the greenest energy sources we have, the general population due to stories of the past, still have many concerns. I hope this novel can open interest in the subject, validate those fears, and allow us to review the safety of nuclear power.”

Critics and early readers have praised Smith’s ability to blur the line between scientific fact and folklore, creating a story a resonates with readers. Decay is the first novel from DDL Smith to be available in leading book chains across continents, cementing his novels in the public eye.
